Santa switches his sleigh for a rowboat during the annual nautically themed Holidays at Sea festival held aboard the historic sailing ships docked at the Hyde Street Pier. Presented by the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park's Living History Players, this is a holiday version of their popular 'A Day in the Life: 1901' living history programme. Participants step back in time on a guided tour where they encounter and interact with characters engaged in traditional maritime Yuletide celebrations, including carolling and storytelling. At the end of the day, kids get cookies and hot cider.

San Francisco's vocal treasure Wesla Whitfield returns to the Plush Room for her annual winter concert residency. The inimitable jazz singer, whose impeccable phrasing has earned her comparisons to everyone from Sinatra to Perry Como, first sang in the Bay Area as part of the San Francisco Opera's chorus before venturing out to stake her claim in cities across the US. Accompanied by her husband and musical director Mike Greensill, Wesla interprets popular numbers from the American songbook with uncommon panache.
