If you happen to be near Albarese, down in the Maremma area of Tuscany, Da Remo is one of the best places to sample fish and prices are very reasonable. Fresh fish and seafood is brought in every day and cooked with a light touch. The mixed antipasto is a must - grilled oysters topped with breadcrumbs and parmesan, seafood salad, swordfish carpaccio, crostini topped with anchovies. Pasta dishes include linguine with sea bass, classic 'spaghetti alle vongole verace' (giant clams) and fish-stuffed ravioli. Whole fish are wrapped in foil and baked in the oven with porcini mushrooms or roasted with potatoes and black olives, or you can choose a plate of simply-grilled giant prawns. Booking is essential.
