Museum of Medieval Torture Instruments

A blissful new low in the 'kitsching' of history, this museum is a must for the connoisseur of all things cheesy. Assembled here are over 60 nasty implements, from the well-known rack, iron maiden and wheel to the horrifically arcane 'bock', a sexual impalement tool for witches. Most include references to the trials of the Inquisition (in which these devices were used to force confessions) and engraved illustrations on proper usage. Oddly enough, the whole exhibition is arranged in the magnificent baroque Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace, which the bloodthirsty patrons rarely seem to notice.

Jorge Drexler

Uruguayan singer and songwriter, Jorge Drexler will perform with his customary passion at Lasal, a very hip, laid-back beach bar located some 20 minutes up the coast from Barcelona. Drexler will play songs from his fifth album and the third recorded in Spain, 'Frontera', a work which speaks of the indignities and oppression suffered under the military dictatorship in his country. After the concert, chill-out DJs will take over.
